Our Bad

Hi everyone! So, unfortunately we aren’t going to be able to record the new episode for a few days. (Sorry!) To make it up to you, we’re going to try to make this episode a bit longer than usual, and we’ve decided to read all the Avatar-centric emails (received from now until we record) on the show. (Okay, it’s not that exciting. But it’s something!) So send your questions, theories, rants and raves, whatever to bendercast@yahoo.com and hear us discuss it on the show!

Keep in mind: Bendercast is still spoiler-free, so we will only read emails pertaining to episodes up to and including “The Day of Black Sun.”

We look forward to hearing from you!

Redux: Siege of the North (I)

In which Michelle and Hailey generate a combination of intelligent and mostly-intelligent discussion on the first installment of “Siege of the North.” (We strive for diversity on our show…) This includes some well-deserved praise of Yue, a debate over Zuko’s face, some borderline-gratuitous questions about Saruman and a bit of pronoun confusion. This episode is concluded with a healthy dose of patented nuttiness, which will hopefully be forgiven as our midterms are approaching yet again.

Redux: The Storm

In which Michelle and Hailey discuss the episode that, for them, really started it all. This vintage episode leads them to consider the importance of scars, relate a not-so-short personal story, insert another “Mulan” reference, and conduct some really great discussion. They also marvel at and appreciate the far-flung locales of their listeners, and some latent frustration at Nickelodeon may come to the fore as well; ah, the blame game!

Special Edition: Rumors from Hollywood

In which Michelle and Hailey are very pleased to reunite at their humble recording station and provide a concise analysis of recent rumors regarding the “Avatar” movie. They discuss potential actors, James Cameron and an exciting move at Paramount, along with flying unicorns, Legolas and the merits of Philadelphia. For those anticipating our review of “The Storm,” fear not– we will be back next week with that very thing, so stay tuned!

We Plug You, You Plug Me…

Hey everyone! We know it’s been a while (a long while) but we should be back to our semi-regularly scheduled programing this weekend with a discussion of “The Blue Spirit.” (And due to the craziness of both our lives lately, it will probably be the first time we really sit down and talk in like, two weeks. So stay tuned, it ought to be exciting.)

In the meantime, we’d like to let all our listeners who share our love for Harry Potter know about an absolutely amazing Harry Potter podcast called Harry Potter Prognostications. It is hosted by Greg and Penny, and they’ve been going strong with intelligent, thoughtful and hilarious Potter-themed discussion for over a year now. They recently gave us a much-appreciated plug, and we hope you’ll help us return the favor by heading over to HPProgs.com and giving them a listen.* And if you’re a listener of HPProgs who found us through Greg and Penny, let us know in the comments!

Enjoy!

* Just be aware, Harry Potter Prognostications can be PG-13 at times, so if you need to ask your parents, make sure they are okay with it!

Redux: The Blue Spirit

In which Hailey has gone on vacation and is replaced by her and Michelle’s little brother Kevin; some appropriate insanity follows. Michelle and Kevin gab about frozen frogs, how to properly spell “Zhao” and the physics of archery. Additionally, they argue over the legalities and practicalities of a drive to Canada which is not going to happen, Kevin. And as always, we solicit your thoughts and opinions on the podcast and the general world of Avatar– let us know what you think!

You Decide, We Discuss

Hi everyone! As our Avatar-drought grows longer, and our final exams draw closer (gulp!) we decided that we needed to crack down and do a new episode. Problem: there aren’t any new episodes to podcast. (Well… not legally, anyway. And after much thought and deliberation, we decided to stay on the right side of the law. For now!) So we decided to select a few episodes from season one and let you decide which one we should podcast about! You can vote in the poll below. We aren’t sure when we’ll be able to sit down and record, so for now, this poll is open-ended.

Update: We will probably be recording sometime next Wednesday (the 9th) so make sure you get your votes in before then! Oh, and if it’s a tie, we’ll probably just pick whichever of the two we like better.

May the most popular episode win, and have a Happy New Year!

We’re on Facebook!

Hi everyone! We hope you’ve been coping well during the recent (and, ahem, recently interrupted) Avatar dry-spell. Due to certain recent events, we may be back with another podcast far sooner than we expected… but until then, we have just a bit of Bendercast related news for you!

One of our totally awesome listeners, Brandon, very graciously set up a Facebook group for us, and then we decided to make a profile for ourselves! So now you can join our group, or become our friend on Facebook– and don’t forget to spread the word to your fellow avatards! (And check out Brandon’s drawing in the “photos” section. It’s amazing!)

Note: We know that many of our listeners are younger than we are, and since Facebook is geared to people in their upper teens and twenties, many of you may not have accounts there. If you fall into this category and would still like to join, please ask your parents before signing up. (They know what’s good for you WAY more than we do!)

The Day of Black Sun

In which Michelle and Hailey (who are hopefully coherent despite their considerable glee) present their longest episode yet as they engage in an in-depth review of the spectacularly awesome “Day of Black Sun.” They express their ecstasy about Zuko, insert several sound-clips, rage and laugh at Azula, adore Sokka and Toph, squeal quite a bit, present necessarily inadequate Awesome Lists, and manage to speculate for the future.

This will likely constitute our last episode for some time as the airdate for “The Western Air Temple” has yet to be released, but stay tuned! Significant events in the Avatar-verse may very well present opportunities for more episodes, so…

Special Edition: Theories and Discussion

In which Michelle and Hailey, lacking an episode to discuss, share their thoughts and predictions for the Day of Black Sun and beyond. They chat about death, hair, and reincarnation, and also disclose their personal favorite characters. As always, this episode is spoiler-free.
